Facing the Sun/Son

“and keep the instruction of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, [and] his commandments, and his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and wherever you turn yourself. ” I Kings 2:3

Snow in Colorado melts quickly with the sun that follows a storm.  Depending on the direction you look on a neighborhood walk, there is no snow or piled up, un-melted white depth. If your house faces east or south, the snow melts quickly in the intensity of the sun.

If your house faces the other way on the opposite side of the street,  snow lingers much longer in your yard and driveway.

If your fence shades the ground, the melting follows the shape of your fence.

We also are the same way.  If we listen to the instructions of God and walk in his ways, we too feel the Son shining and melting our hardened heart.  If we face away from his commandments and laws, we stay in a frozen state for much longer.  We are faced with a choice.

Do we turn toward the Son and prosper in our ways and who we are, or do we turn away and hide and stay in the shade of the dark?

The fun we have with our small snow storm shows us that we can make little out of nothing.
