Tennessee Celebration

Ezekiel 47:12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

Rolling hills mean Tennessee.  The undulating earth is a gift of geography and “hills and hollers” have new meaning in this area.  South of Nashville about an hour a little bit off the interstate to Chattanooga is a hamlet called Fosterville.

It had a small Post Office and a couple of shops and nothing else.  I rented a house there for a week for my 50th Birthday.

Friends and family joined me on the weekend to celebrate and come to a sanctuary.

We hiked the woods behind the farm, found a Rebel Camp, ate group meals, and visited the big city of Nashville to listen to their famous music.

We shopped in Bell Buckle and met the Harley Bikers.

Every decade was represented with parents, god-parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

My life unfolded with friends coming from Texas, Washington, DC, Illinois, Colorado, and Indiana. My friends came from every state and country I had resided in during my life tenure.

My Aunt took pictures of the stunning barn to paint later, we marveled at the trees and orchards in the early Spring, roosters, horses greeted us as well as dogs,  and we walked in the coolness with a warm sun along a creek.  It was a celebration of life and life to come.

What do you do to celebrate your decades?  Do you wish you did not have birthdays?  What is the alternative to aging?  How long has it been since you have had a sanctuary weekend?
