I can’t get no satisfaction….

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Satisfaction is fleeting.  Our desires are ever expanding, and contentment is brief when we are busy making a living and not making a life.  Happiness and blessings seem to be interconnected.  It is easy to be happy when we are blessed.  We may even be satisfied for a time.  When things are not very blessed, and satisfaction is far from my reach, I ask myself, “Do I hunger and thirst for righteousness?”

My hunger and thirst is normally for more physical needs, food, shelter, friends, entertainment, and clothing. Taking the truth of the verse means satisfaction, God’s satisfaction, will come only when I hunger and thirst after ‘right living’ as shown in His Word.

What gives you satisfaction?  How many blessings can you count right now?  When do you feel happy?  What causes you to hunger and thirst after God?
