First Hike of Spring

Psalms 90:14 “Satisfy us in the morning with Thy lovingkindness that we may sing for joy and be glad.”

Spring.  Warmth.  Running snow melt.  All this combines at Seven Bridges trail near Colorado Springs to bring joy into every moment of the first hike of the Year.  Max is my friend’s three year red Husky who is the best hiking buddy because he has so much fun.  I start to laugh as we near the mountains for an early morning walk and Max starts spinning around in the car with excitement.  We are traveling on Bear Creek Road and there are 4, no 5, no 7 small deer on the road above the creek.  Max starts jumping from the back of the SUV to the back seat where there are windows open.  He wants to run the deer and I roll up the window slowly to get his attention.  When we finally get to the trailhead, Max is beside himself with joy.  I have never seen him so happy.  It makes me treasure the time hiking with my friend in the morning warmth.  In the Spring.  Watching the creek run high with snow melt.

What do you love to do to celebrate Spring?  What makes you glad?   How do you sing for joy in nature?
