Steamboat Lake State Park is about one and half hours north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It is a sizable lake and there were a few people boating, kayaking, and one lady napping on her paddleboard. The summer cabins were closed, a skeleton crew were at the visitors centers, and Covid had limited the people to the outside.
What is the best animal sighting you have had on a hike? What plants do you love to see on a trip?
There were no trees because of fire mitigation and we walked around the lake shore. Surrounded by beautiful Aspen and friendly deer watching us along the hiking path.
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, God.” Psalms 42:1 NIV
A lady was fishing and her dogs in the water looked like they were trying to drag in the fish. The path took a circuitous route with the view of mountains and yellow Aspen.
The views of distant peaks were obscured by smoke from a distant fire that would explode a month later in October 2020. It burned until the first snowfall – the largest fires in Colorado history.
